Fendi SS16 Collection

Fendi's SS16 collection was more about the RTW than fur, but  it was marvellously executed. The fur was presented as details in different garments, it is a spring collection after all. We saw some trims and collars, even shoulder-pads made of mink. The red short jacket below is adorable and a beautiful way to add some fur to a long dress during cooler nights of Spring.

We saw some blue Astrakhan with great embellishment in the form of leather flowers. And we saw a lot of leather, beautifully crafted and applied to jackets, coats, tops, dresses, etc. It was certainly a mater-class in the use of leather as a wearable fabric beyond jackets and accessories.

Fendi Fall 2015

As much as I loved the Pre-Fall and the Couture collections of Fendi, I am not totally drown to the Fall collection. I get the idea behind it, the protection and the going away from the romantic femininity of the other two collections, maybe necessary to have a wider approach to the fur market for winter, but I find too architectural some of the coats. Fur normally adds volume to wearers, if you play also with oversize too much you end up looking like an air balloon

Fur aside, the leather constructed tops and skirts are looking beautiful on those girls. I am not sure about the rest of the world, but they can certainly pull it off. Have you got or tried any of these pieces of the collection? What do you think?

Special mention deserve the shoes. Those I love! That Eskimo look is perfect for the cold winter and I bet you are warm just with looking at them!

Fendi Pre-fall 2015

With every collection, Fendi's style gets sharper and more unique. Their designer team are one of the greatest in industry and the results are overwhelming. The coat above is described in the website like a "Multicolor zipped mink coat with a delicately elaborate square crystal decoration in pastel hues and contrasting seashell pink collar". Crystal decoration? Absolutely stunning. The amount of work that they must have put into this piece is extraordinary.

The collection is a continuous showcase of creativeness and beauty. It is funky, contemporary, young, irreverent and extremely luxurious. And that is supposed to be only pre-fall? I cannot wait for the Winter.

The Piece 2

Fendi Fall 2015 Couture via Style.com
I absolutely adore this piece of the first couture show in Fendi's History. I do not know if they are easily accessible or where to get them, I assume is in Rome flagship store and by appointment, but I would love so much to have a close look to this one (hey Karl :), what about an invitation to the next couture show?...)

It looks to me like sheepskin, mink and feathers, but I cannot say exactly. The blend of colours is exceptional and get such a sweet look out of these materials is just a piece of art! It might not be something to wear everyday but it is something to keep as a collectable.

The whole collection is so inspirational, with pieces for every fur lover. Well done Fendi and  Karl.

Fendi

Fendi is probably the best known and more celebrated furrier in fashion. The House of Fendi was born in 1925 in Rome, but thanks to the charismatic figure of its Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld, which has been in the head of the House since 1965,  Fendi has enjoyed its greatest success.

Sometimes elegant and sophisticated, others funky and irreverent, the personality of Karl is printed in each Fendi collection. But we can truly say that the brand has reached its glory mostly due to its accessories, although it is the fur that gives the house the highest attention and respect. Fendi is part of LVMH, the biggest fashion conglomerate in the world, and at the end of day they need to be profitable. But let's not dwell in the reality of the market and let's dream furry dreams! Fendi showcases high class fur pieces with a great quality... and price!

I found this video of Fendi History on its website and I fell in love. Have a look if you want to know more:
